The CPIFA and the China Institute at the University of Alberta Hold China - Canada Scholar Video Dialogue

On May 19, the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and the China Institute at the University of Alberta (CIUA) held a video dialogue on the issues of the UN’s role and reform, multilateral trade mechanism and climate change. The dialogue was cochaired by Ambassador Zhao Weiping, Vice President of the CPIFA, and Ms. Wang Jia, Interim Director of the CIUA. Ambassador Zhao and Professor Gordon Houlden, Director Emeritus of the CIUA, delivered opening and closing remarks respectively .   

The participants on the Chinese side include Ms. Zhang Dan, former Vice President and Director General of the United Nations Association of China (UNA-China), Dr. Zhang Haibin, Vice Dean and Professor of the School of International Studies at Peking University, and Dr. Dong Yan, Director of Research Section of International Trade at Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP).  

The Canadian participants include Ambassador Philip Calvert, Senior Fellow with the CIUA and former Deputy head of Canadian Mission to China, Dr. Andy Knight, Professor of International Relations in the Political Science Department, University of Alberta, and Dr. Yves Tiberghien, Senior Fellow with the CIUA and Professor of Political Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
