At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), H.E. Dr. Amani Abeid Karume, President of Zanzibar, visited Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Foshan from May 23 to 28, 2010. Mr. Song Hai, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr. Tang Dengjie, Vice Major of Shanghai and Mr. Zhuo Qinrui, Vice Major of Shenzhen met with and hosted welcoming banquets in honor of the Zanzibar delegation respectively. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral economic and trade cooperation. 

       Dr. Karume expressed his deep admiration on China’s achievements since the Reform and Opening-up Policy was adopted 30 years ago. He said China is the role model on modernization construction for Zanzibar. Zanzibar is willing to cooperate with China in various fields, especially in the fields of communication, agriculture and infrastructure construction. The cooperation between the two sides will further facilitate the Sino-African cooperation which will benefit both Chinese and African peoples.
