U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein Visits China

       At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), a 12-member U.S. Senate Delegation led by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California),Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, visited Beijing and Shanghai from May 30 to June 5, 2010. Senator Mark Udall (D-Colorado) and Senator Kay Hagan (D-North Carolina) also joined the delegation. During the visit in Beijing, Chairman Wu Bangguo of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, Party Secretary Bo Xilai of the Chongqing Municipality, Mr. Zhang Guobao, Vice Minister of the National Development and Reform Commission and head of the National Energy Administration, Director Wang yi of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Vice Minister Yang Xueshan of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and President Yang Wenchang of the CPIFA met with them or hosted banquets respectively in honor of the delegation. During the visit in Shanghai, Mayor Han Zheng of the Shanghai Municipal Government met with  them and hosted banquet in honor of the delegation. The delegation also visited the 2010 Shanghai World EXPO. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-U.S. Relations, the Taiwan issue, bilateral military exchanges, cyber security, energy cooperation, situation on the Korean Peninsula and other international and regional hot issues.
