The 16th China-Singapore Forum Successfully Held

On April 11, 2024, the 16th China-Singapore Forum, co-organized by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and the East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore (NUS) was successfully held. H.E. Wang Chao, President of CPIFA and H.E. Prof. Chan Heng Chee, Ambassador-at-Large with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore, respectively headed the Chinese and Singaporean delegations and delivered remarks. Focusing on the theme of “Promoting High-level Development of China-Singapore Relations in the New Era”, the two sides conducted frank, friendly, and in-depth exchanges on topics of “New Momentum of China-Singapore Relations: an All-round High-quality Future-oriented Partnership” and “International Cooperation and Multilateralism in a Multipolar World Order”. 

The Chinese delegation includes Amb. Wei Wei, former Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, Amb. Wang Yu, Vice President of CPIFA, Dr. Huo Jianguo, Deputy Chairman of CWTO Association, Dr. Zhao Jinping, Former Director-General of Department of Foreign Economic Relations, Development Research Center of the State Council, Dr. Jiang Ruiping, former Vice President of China Foreign Affairs University, and experts and scholars from institutions and universities including Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Institute of International Relations, Renmin University of China. The Singaporean delegation includes Ms. Mariam Jaafar, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC, Mr. Poon Hong Yuen, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information, Mr. Low Eng Teong, Chief Executive Officer of the National Arts Council, and representatives from institutions and universities including the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, Keppel Ltd., National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University.
