The Roundtable on China-Philippines Relations Held in Beijing

On October 14, the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and the Philippine Council for Foreign Relations (PCFR) co-organized the Roundtable on China-Philippines Relations in Beijing, focusing on the theme of Steering the Direction of China-Philippines Relations.
H.E. Wang Chao, President of CPIFA and Mr. Alejandro T. Flores, Jr., President of PCFR led the Chinese and Philippine delegations to attend the Roundtable and addressed the opening ceremony respectively. Mr. Jaime Bautista, PCFR Chairman delivered online remarks at the opening ceremony. Delegates from both sides conducted in-depth discussions on how to further enhance economic and cultural exchanges between China and the Philippines, and safeguard regional peace, development and stability.
The Chinese delegation includes H.E. HU Zhengyue, former Vice Chairperson of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, former Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia and former Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Amb. Wang Yu, CPIFA Vice President and scholars and experts from Development Research Center of the State Council, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, China Institute of Marine Affairs of Ministry of Natural Resources, China Institute of International Studies, Huayang Center for Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance, China International Institute for Strategic Society, China Foreign Affairs University and China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations. The Philippine delegation includes Alfredo E Pascual, former Secretary of Trade and Industry, retired Lieutenant General Edilberto Adan, former Ambassador to Indonesia Vidal Querol, and representatives from academia and business sectors.
The 11-member Philippine delegation also visited Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
